4 Practical Ways to Use CBD Oil for PMS

1. Add it to your morning smoothie systemic relief

Although taking your CBD oil sublingually is an effective strategy, it’s always fun to change things up a bit.  Many women are adding their CBD to their morning smoothie to maximize its benefits by combining it with other PMS combating ingredients.

CBD Sunshine Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1,5 cups dairy-free or nut milk like almond, hemp or cashew milk
  • 1 scoop plant protein powder (optional but great for keeping full for longer)
  • 1 carrot cut into chunks
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp black paper
  • 1 cup pineapple, cubed
  • 1/2 cup peach, cubed
  • 1 tbs MCT oil

Directions:

Combine all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend on high.  Pour into glass and enjoy!

 

Hormone Balancing CBD Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup dairy-free or nut milk like almond, hemp or cashew milk
  • 1/4 cup yoghurt or yogurt alternative (try to avoid soya as it is a phytoestrogen)
  • Juice from 1 orange
  • 1 banana
  • 6 ice cubes
  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • 1/4 almonds
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds and cocoa nibs
  • Daily dose of CBD Oil

Directions:

Combine all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend on high.  Pour into glass and enjoy!

 

CBD Dark Chocolate Green Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup filtered water or dairy-free or nut milk like almond, hemp or cashew milk
  • 1/2 large mango, pitted, peeled and cubed
  • 3/4 cup blueberries
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 1 tbs flax seeds
  • 1 tbs raw cocoa powder
  • Daily dose of CBD Oil

Directions:

Combine all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend on high.  Pour into glass and enjoy!

 

2. Apply it directly to a tampon or pad

There are now a variety of “weed” tampons on the market.  But starting at around $44 for four tampons, for many of us the price-tag is a bit steep.  Also, as the name suggests, they are usually infused with both CBD and THC making it a non-option for those women who are either sensitive to THC or who need to avoid due to things like drug screening for work.

Many women are now admitting to simply improvise and make their own by adding a drop or two of CBD oil to their tampon or menstrual pad to help relieve period pain and cramping

Cautionary Note:  Before you consider diy-ng your own CBD tampons or pads, please remember that purity, quality and cleanliness is of utmost importance since you will be putting this up your vajayjay.

 

3. Add it to a massage oil

Another great way to find relief from pain and cramping, but slightly less risqué, is to add a few drops of CBD oil to a massage oil.  And while you’re at it, take advantage of all the benefits that PMS relieving essential oils have by adding those to your massage oil as well.

Here’s some recipe blends to get you started.

Cramp-Soothe Blend 1

Ingredients:

  • 4 drops lavender
  • 2 drops clary sage
  • 2 drops rose
  • 30 ml almond oil
  • 1 x 100 mg dose of CBD oil

Directions: Combine oils and massage onto abdomen in a clock-wise or where needed.

 

Cramp-Soothe Blend 2

Ingredients:

  • 4 drops clary sage
  • 3 drops lavender
  • 2 drops geranium
  • 30 ml avocado oil
  • 1 x 100 mg dose of CBD oil

Directions: Combine oils and massage onto abdomen in a clock-wise or where needed.

 

4. Make your own face cream to reduce acne

On top of painful period cramps and dreaded mood swings, many of us also need to deal with hormonal breakouts.  Making your own CBD face cream is easy.  For an easy version, mix a drop or two of CBD oil with a dollop of your usual face cream.  If you are feeling more adventurous and want to make your own from scratch, try this take on a recipe from Aura Natural Health.

DIY CBD Infused Face Cream

Ingredients:

  • 35 ml of hemp, jojoba or argan oil
  • 15g cacao butter
  • 5g shea butter
  • 2 tbsp of beeswax (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp rosehip oil (optional)
  • 10 drops essential oils such as geranium, lavender and frankincense
  • 30 drop of CBD oil

Directions: Place all ingredients into a glass bowl and combine. Put the bowl over a pan of freshly boiled water (off the heat) and stir until all ingredients are melted.

When the ingredients have melted together, pour the mixture into a dark glass jar and store in the refrigerator to prolong shelf life.
